A Bizarre Romanian Case of Contact

By Albert S. Rosales

Location: Apuseni region, Bihor County, Transylvania, Romania
Date: late August 1981
Time: evening

The witness of the event was Liviu Staicu, an elderly shepherd, a veteran of World War II, a hermit who lived alone in a small hut at the foot of the Bihor massif. The contact occurred after the wheat harvest, in late August. Liviu was returning from the pasture at sunset when he was attracted by an unusual golden glow emanating from a small group of trees. As he approached, he saw a figure, a humanoid creature about two meters tall, standing motionless among the trees. It had smooth, almost pearlescent skin, a featureless face, and eyes that shone like ‘polished stones.’ There was no light source around it, but the surrounding landscape glowed with a soft, even light that cast no shadows.

The creature did not speak a word out loud, but Liviu heard a clear, vibrational message in his head. According to him, the speech was not formed into sounds, but was transmitted directly to consciousness, like a stream of thought accompanied by internal images. Then came the key message: “It was not a voice, but a word entered me. It was the sound of thought, spinning like a soft but sharp wind. I heard it say: We are not alone, not below. We are here, where you feel the light without fire.”

Then the creature handed Liviu a crystal sphere the size of an apple. When he picked it up, he felt a vibration similar to a weak electric current, and then a sequence of images: a spiral of light crossed by a crisscrossing beam, and then a complete disappearance of visual sensations. Everything around him became motionless, and he had the feeling that time had disappeared, like “a breath held too long.” The contact lasted approximately 30-35 minutes. The creature disappeared as suddenly as it had appeared – dissolving into thin air, leaving no trace, no smell, no sound. Liviu returned to his hut in a state of deep numbness, but that same night he began to write notes in a school notebook that had previously been used as a diary for observing the weather. From that moment on, for months to come, Liviu wrote down daily fragments of thoughts, images, memories of dreams, accompanied by complex drawings consisting of geometric shapes, circles, spirals, polyhedrons and unfamiliar symbols. These drawings were later found to correspond to sacred geometry structures, including precise analysis of the dodecahedron, golden ratio spirals, and pseudo-Merkaba configurations.

Liviu described hearing “singing triangles” every night, which he “entered” in his sleep, finding himself in vast expanses where there was no time or pain. He said the being, did not “come from outside,” but seemed to “open up from within” – from a space that was “always between moments.”

Some of journal entries:

‘When I held the sphere, my hands became heavy, but at the same time light. I saw a spiral in light. Then a cross of light. Then nothing. Just a feeling that time had passed, like a breath held too long.”

“I dreamed that all the sounds of the world had turned into golden triangles. Each triangle sang. I entered them – and there was another world. A world without borders.”

“They did not give me power. They gave me memory. Where there was oblivion, now there is Light. But I cannot explain it. Even language does not know how.”

Liviu’s character changed. According to his niece, Maria Staicu, he became silent, thoughtful, and often spoke words in an unknown language in his sleep. One of the mathematics teachers from the village school, having studied Liviu’s notebooks, noted the amazing precision of the geometric calculations, impossible without specialized training. According to independent mathematical researcher Gheorghe Tamas, who saw reproductions of the pages, “these forms could not have drawn by chance. They follow an internal symmetry known only to those who work with field projections in topology.” After Liviu’s death in 1989, three notebooks with his notes and drawings were kept by Maria. In 2007, she gave them to Ufologist and archivist Daniel Florian, who published excerpts in a collection called, “Carti care nu vorbesc” (Books that don’t speak), published in a limited edition of 33 copies, distributed only among researchers of the Eastern Europe esoteric and Ufological line. There is no complete digital edition, but individual pages have been scanned and are circulating in closed archives, including the archive of the Association for the Study of Consciousness (Timisoara, Romania) and the Institute of Paranormal Forms (Oradea). It is claimed that the quartz sphere given to Liviu by the being remained in his house until his death. After that, according to Maria, it disappeared.

In one of her interviews, recorded in 2009, with researcher Mircea Onescu, she said, “He kept it in a wooden shelf. It glowed faintly. But a month after his death, when I returned to the house, it had crumbled to ashes. There was only a circular mark on the wood.”

Comments: The Merkabah, derived from the Hebrew word for "chariot," is a symbol in Jewish mysticism and esotericism, often depicted as two interlocking tetrahedrons, and is believed to be a vehicle for spiritual ascension and transformation.
