A Visit from Strange Strangers

A husband and wife, both farmers, while they were about to go to bed in their room, heard their dogs barking furiously. The husband went to the window and noticed, at a distance of about 50 meters, strange lights coming from three different points in a path, close to each other and that seemed to be produced by a single beam which then emitted three independent beams of light which spread out in a radial pattern and directed in different directions. Having taken his rifle, the farmer decided to approach the lights and check. He turned on the light that illuminated the front yard and while he was going down the stairs he saw that the lights were approaching the house. After opening the door of the house he distinguished, at about ten meters away, that the lights were coming from three individuals who were approaching. He noticed that these figures were only about 4.9ft tall and were dressed in dark clothes.
Observing them more closely he noticed that each of them was wearing a suit that covered their entire bodies, without any apparent seams or joints, it appeared shiny, tight fitting, and of a green-blue color. It was composed of a jacket, pants, shoes and headgear, in short it looked like a cross between a ski suit and an aviator’s suit. The witness went towards the intruders asking them what they wanted. In the meantime the dogs had stopped barking and were standing docilely near the house. His question, repeated several times, received no answer because the three were speaking in a completely incomprehensible language, however they seemed calm even if their faces were absolutely expressionless. The witness was able to notice additional details: the suit covered their whole body, but being very tight the body structure was visible. Apart from the height they were “unusually European,” while the skin was a dark yellowish color. The head was also covered by the material of the suit (like diving suits), the only difference was in the headgear was attached to the trunk covering the whole nape of the neck.
One of the three individuals’ had a hand constantly in a sort of pocket, another instead carried his hand what the witness said resembled a sort of flashlight of a very strange construction. This object, in addition to the beams of yellowish light that emitted, was composed of a handle with a parallelepiped on top of it of dimensions similar to two cigarette packets placed one on top of each other. Immediately after, this object, the only object visible on the three individuals, was placed hanging on a sort of hook in the back of the individual. The witness, not seeing weapons, calmed down, and the three strange beings approached further. Since the night temperature was cool, the farmer, of an extremely hospitable nature, invited the three men to enter the house. The three followed him, talking among themselves in a language that the witness did not hesitate to define as incomprehensible and that he absolutely could not identify. Having entered the kitchen (the wife in the meantime, visibly frightened, had locked herself in the bedroom), the man asked them for more information on their nationality mentioning the name of several nations, in response he obtained a series of inarticulate sounds. At this point, it was noted that one of the three, the one slightly taller than the other two, pointed to the rifle (which was leaning against the wall) and seemed to discuss it with his companions; immediately after, the three individuals cast a general glance at the furnishings of the room, it was a mutual study as the witness also observed additional details.
Their hair was a color between brown and blond and could be seen under the cap at the temples, one of the three also had, at chest area height, inside his uniform, a rounded protuberance a few centimeters wide, which the witness noticed due to the tightness of the uniform, this object emitted an intermittent sound barely perceptible: a sort of “Tic-Tac,” always the same, this detail will later be confirmed by the wife, who when interviewed separately, gave a physical description of the three individuals, largely coinciding with that of her husband. The witness then offered, as a sign of hospitality, to each of the three a glass of wine, an ancient and widespread habit among the local farmers, however, after having smelled the drink, the three placed the glasses on the table without drinking from it. The man, believing that the wine did not meet their taste, called his wife inviting her to prepare some coffee, now convinced that there was no danger.
The lady confessed of having been gripped by a lively agitation, almost on the verge of fleeing into the countryside, which did not happen partly because of the confidence shown by her husband in entertaining the guests and partly because of the situation which was undoubtedly calm. While the lady was preparing the coffee, the husband took out a sheet of paper and a pen and handed them to one of the guests, however even this new and patient attempt of communication did not have a positive outcome as the three passed the blank sheet of paper to each other, observing it carefully, chatting among themselves and the man, and then returning it shortly after. The coffee was served in as mall cup to each of them and the man, wanting to testify to its harmlessness, if they had ever thought otherwise, drank first. The three individuals, after having observed the scene and smelled the drink, this time drank. Immediately after, these strange characters greeted the gentleman by placing the palm of their hand on his shoulder and headed for the exit, silently. They moved away within seconds in the opposite direction from which they had come. The witness saw the three walk away and soon they disappeared from sight, into the darkness of the night; the entire visit had lasted about ten minutes, it was now 11:40 p.m. The husband and wife, feeling a bit disconcerted, returned to their bed; the memory of the event, however, prevented them from falling asleep easily.
The following morning they looked for any traces of the presence of the three strangers, but due to the incessant rain that had fallen during the night, they did not find any footprints on the ground. During the investigation it was established that the spouses were well-known and esteemed people, worthy of the utmost trust.
