Should Seeing Really Be Believing?
But what exacting are we Seeing?
by: Brent Raynes
Recently I asked long-time UFO researcher Allen Greenfield, who knew John Keel pretty well, the following question: "Did Keel ever share with you about meeting the doppelganger or spirit if you will of an old friend, he hadn't seen in years the very day the Silver Bridge collapsed? He told very few and certainly didn't include it in his book Mothman Prophecies, though he mentions Dan Drasin several times who went to Point Pleasant a number of times in 1967 to assist Keel and with the hope of producing a documentary for TV - which sadly failed. But Dan shared the letter Keel wrote later when he discovered that his friend had died a little over two years earlier, so how could he have visited Keel. Dan says he met Keel's friend. "
Allen replied: “I don't recall that specifically, but Keel had his share of weird experiences. That's quite believable; in classical psychical research there are cases of doppelgangers, apparitions of living people in crisis, apparitions of people who seem 'in the flesh' but who, it turns out, died at about the time they were seen.
“I really think that the enigma of UFOs is most profitable seen as part of a spectrum of High Weirdness from Bigfoot to the Fae to Aunt Agatha's ghost. ETH has long made it seem more complicated than it is by pointing determinedly in the wrong direction. If there is a solution (or, at least, a resolution) that fits all of these phenomena, it will come from something along the lines of the Many Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics. It posits these other membranes, but they deny they can be accessed. I think that will come, but whether humans are capable of seeing the denizens of other realities as they actually are. There's no reason to think that other realms would be anything like our own.
“But I do think we can come to some kind of meaningful accommodation with the nature of the phenomena, not just in the sense that 'we can know that we can't really know the source or sources, but also that we can understand through simile, metaphor and folklore.”
England’s noted globe-trotting science, history, and UFO author Andrew Collins weighed into Allen’s musings. “All phenomena is related and all phenomena can be controlled or manipulated by other intelligences,” Andrew wrote. “The problem is we don't know what that "other" is. It could be extraterrestrial, but equally it could be transdimensional in nature. It might even exist in parallel worlds as Allen Greenfield says. We just need to keep an open mind and not put labels on it too easily.” Susan Demeter, author of The Cosmic Witch, shared these thoughts: “I think when it comes to high strangeness there may be many things at play and that includes the UFOs and their pilots. I do not like to lump everything in together in a grand paranormal unification type of way, but I do see the commonality in many of these experiences. For example, witnesses seeing their beloved dead aboard space crafts. Or Bigfoot being seen in the company of apparitional "ladies-in white." And the ever-present light balls that are witnessed as ufos, ghosts, fairies etc. I believe we may be dealing with many sorts of entities, and psychic processes, but I'm guessing of course and the older I get the more I realize the less I actually know. And that is ok because I love a good mystery.” Bob Davis, a Ph.D. sensory neuroscientist who has been closely studying the UAP phenomenon and alien contact reports, along with parapsychology and quantum physics, shared these thoughts:
“Journalist and influential ufologist, John Keel, also suggested the idea of such entities being responsible for UAP was more reasonable than the extraterrestrial hypothesis since UAP have ‘been consistently active in the same areas for many years.’ He stated that, ‘It is quite reasonable to speculate that these objects originate in some unknown manner from these areas, rather than traversing great spatial distances to make brief random and apparently pointless visits.’ He considered that many of the thousands of observed ‘flying saucers’ and ‘spook lights’ are more apt to be a part of the Earth's environment than extraterrestrial craft flying in from some distant point. “Plasma, often described as the fourth state of matter, is prevalent throughout the universe and plays a crucial role in various astrophysical and atmospheric processes. In fact, the properties of plasma align with several observed characteristics of UAP, providing a scientifically grounded framework for understanding some aspects of the phenomena. This includes, 1) general nighttime appearance of the UAP, 2) many colors, 3) self-illuminating character, 4) fuzzy appearance, and 5) indiscernible outline with the appearance of a physical object/craft behind the light.
Plasma is observed in the thermosphere and lower atmosphere and are likely responsible for many UAP sightings. They descend into the ocean, enter homes, buildings, and the cockpits of aircraft and may affect electronics and mental functioning, possibly inducing hallucinations. Plasma can pass through plastic, metal, and enter the cockpits of airplanes and have been observed by astronauts inside spacecraft, the MIR and ISS. And given their propensity to collide, plasma may even be responsible for some unexplained aircraft disasters.” Bob thoughtfully and objectively strives to sift through all of this anomalous and high strange data, reaching forward to a startling possibility that’s worth bearing in mind:
“Could the UAPs sudden and transient appearance in our reality be to trigger processes in our consciousness through our perception of their existence? After all, the UAP seems designed to cause a transformation within us, enhancing our understanding and use of our cosmic nature, especially since sightings in the sky function similarly to hypnagogic images that appear on the screen of our mind: they are simply icons, actuators of a program that, once unpacked, can activate processes within our consciousness. Furthermore, just as with UAP, we might collaborate in co-creating these images when our psyche is entangled with something that is both nowhere and yet here, written and coded in the quantum vacuum of the atoms that compose us. This entanglement represents a piece of eternity, interconnected within the spacetime of our Universe and possibly with the spacetimes of other Universes.”
Brent Raynes and other explorers of the unexplained will be again speaking at the Strange Realities conference in Nashville, TN., November 1, 2, & 3.
