Be Your Own Leader

by: Stan Prachniak, MBA

Going with the flow is easy. Being a follower is easy. Just keep your head down, do what you are told to do, and believe what you are told to believe. It’s important not to confuse following or being a follower with being part of a group or social circle because having positive social connections is important in life. But, when you choose to question why things are the way they are or why something is done a certain way, you engage the learning process and personal growth begins to happen.

You might not be what some would consider a “born leader,” but that doesn’t mean that you cannot become a leader. Some people are comfortable leading others in certain situations or circumstances. If you are not one of these people, that’s okay. What you should understand here is that this is your choice. No matter the reason behind that choice, you ultimately decide what you do. You have the ability to choose your path in life—you can lead yourself.

Being an active participant in life is up to you. You get to choose to accept things as they are and just go with the flow, or take control of the things that you can control and become responsible for your own path in life. You can create your path by choosing to grow mentally, spiritually, and physically each day. I encourage you to choose to be your own leader and become the person you truly want to be.

Freedom To Change offers a way for you to become the best version of yourself by challenging the beliefs that surround you each day, making your own decisions, and being your own leader. For more information on the Freedom To Change materials, visit www.freedom2change.org.
