Universe(s) and UFOs
by: Barbara Mango, Ph.D
I have always been drawn to the starry skies and the unimaginable vastness of our universe. It has always been inconceivable to me that the human race exists in isolation.
Let's think about this for a moment. Science estimates there are approximately 400 billion (yes, billion) planets in our galaxy alone. Yet, this is a scant percentage of solar systems, stars, and planets existing in our observable universe. Note-I said observable. Of course, it is impossible to determine an exact number. However, astrophysicists roughly "guesstimate" that there are 10 sextillion solar systems and 30 sextillion planets.
I admit I am mathematically challenged. Yet it is difficult for most of us to wrap our heads around any number ending with "tillion" For those of us who are wondering what the heck sixtillion looks like on paper-imagine the number 1, followed by 21 zeros. (1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000).
Numerous physicists and cosmologists hypothesize that our universe is merely one of many in existence — perhaps an infinite number. This multitude of universes is most frequently referred to as "the multi-verse" or "parallel universes." Just trying to estimate the number of inhabitable planets in a possible multi-verse gives me a headache. You may be wondering why I am writing about UFO's (or, as more commonly referred to as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, UAP). After all, this blog is devoted to the discussion of extraordinary experiences. Yet, UAPs are considered such experiences.
Any inexplicable phenomena which defies our three dimensional world and expands our consciousness is, in itself, extraordinary. Those who have had UAP sightings and/or related contact, seemingly transcend the time/space/sensory constraints of our three-D realm-opening them to the possibility that a fourth dimension exists.
I wholeheartedly agree. I experienced a UAP sighting.

UAP Sighting: March 20, 1966, 12:00pm
Location: Shawnee, KS
Sunday, March 20th, 1966, a blistering heat wave held Shawnee, Kansas in its grip. For ten consecutive days, record setting temperatures soared into the eighties. Central air-conditioners blasted, while parents dug shorts and tee shirts from summer-clothes bins. Sunday's forecast called for a beautiful, sunny day, with a predicted high of eighty-one degrees.
In my house, nice weather was synonymous with two dreaded words: yard work. My father and I were sweaty and tired after spending hours raking, pruning, and clipping. It was a typical boring Sunday, or so I thought. I was dutifully raking when, out of the blue, a dark shadow covered our entire lawn. Since when do enormous shadows appear in cloudless blue skies? What was going on? We abruptly dropped our rakes and looked upward.
A massive, cylindrical disc hovered five-hundred feet above us. It was majestic. I stared up at the matte-silver craft in amazement. It was approximately the circumference of two football fields, with evenly-spaced, oval windows encircling it. We stood in awe of the object as it silently hovered, motionless in the sky.
A low-flying UAP had appeared instantly and in broad daylight, making it impossible to mistake it for anything else. Fearless and with utter calm, I gazed up at the craft, while its occupants engaged me in a telepathic conversation.
Barbara: “FINALLY!” I said. “I've been waiting for you to appear my whole life!”
UAP Occupants: “We know. You've always understood that the universe is unimaginably vast, contains billions of habitable planets, and other intelligent life forms. We ask that you share our mission of peace and concern with the ecology of your planet. We are here to observe you, just as someday, in the near future, you humans will examine moon rocks and lunar soil samples."
Little did I know, that in a few short years, (between 1969 and 1972) 842 pounds of lunar rocks, including core samples, pebbles, sand and dust, would be retrieved from the lunar surface, via six Apollo missions.
Instantaneously, the craft evaporated into thin air. I recall screaming to my father, “Dad, we couldn't hear the UFO because it moved faster than the speed of sound, and we couldn't see it appear or disappear, because it traveled faster than the speed of light!” As a young child, it would have been impossible for me to grasp the laws of energy, waves, vibration or motion. Yet somehow, at that moment, I had total comprehension.
In this encounter, I received future information regarding lunar samples, which was later publicly verified. I realized that non-human intelligent beings were capable of downloading (or "telepathically teaching") future scientific data; information which lies beyond time space, and the human scope of “knowing.”
I never doubted the validity of the UAP phenomena I witnessed. The incident was briefly reported in our local paper. However, I wanted hard evidence. I searched for years to no avail.
Decades later, I found the confirmation I had long sought in Project Blue Book (PBB). PBB contains declassified Air Force investigations analyzing UFO-related cases/data. Combing for days through the voluminous archives, I was finally able to find verification of my childhood UAP sighting (Nara-PBB1-364, Roll 1, March 1-22 1966 sightings).
Renowned science writer Arthur C. Clarke, one stated:
I’m sure the universe is full of intelligent life. It’s just been too intelligent to come here.
I couldn't disagree more.
