Beckley and Casteel cover a wide-range of reported high-strange capers in this book, everything from contactees like Howard Menger and Orfeo Angelucci, with tales of the friendly Space Brothers, to tales of witnesses burned and injured from their UFO encounters, from Canadian Stephen Michalak, to the many people injured and burned in UFO encounters on the Brazilian island of Colares, at the mouth of the Amazon. Then there are the stories of celebrities who report having seen UFOs, like actress Shirley MacLaine, John Lennon, Muhammad Ali, Sammy Davis Jr., and others. And for the conspiracy buffs there’s details on MK-ULTRA, Project Monarch, and “mind-controlled sex slaves,” along with tales of “Operation Paperclip,” the Vril Society, and Nazi UFO time travelers. Truly a mixed bag of the strange and sensational stories that make up the literary ufological landscape, for better or for worse.

The book contains a good sampling of photos and illustrations of witnesses, researchers, and alleged UFO photographs. Some of the UFO photos are head-scratchers, like Ellen Crystall’s odd photograph taken of the underbelly of a metallic triangle-shaped craft which shows what look like electrical or plasma discharges, something that was unseen when she snapped the picture, as well as unusual pictures taken by experiencer Marc Brinkerhoff at England’s Warminster and our own New York City, as well as Stella Lansing’s anomalous images [though I believe I can explain her so-called “clockwork” photos, which I’ll write up about another time].

In the meantime, there’s a lot of as yet unusual and unsolved mysteries to ponder and wonder about.
