Merrell Fankhauser is well to the world as a grammy-nominated rock musician, and if there’s any uncertainty how about I mention from the early ‘60s his surfer song “Wipe Out”! Less known is the fact that Merrell is also a long-time UFO researcher, a story that began after he moved to Maui in 1973 and how he went on top of Haleakala Crater to observe the sunset and along with others saw a UFO – an event that inspired Merrell to write a song entitled “Calling From A Star,” which is included in a new U.K. released entitled “Eklectia.” Merrell explains that 17 artists and groups who feel their music was influenced by ETs or UFO encounters is included in this. In addition, the Eklectia album has some interviews with some of the artists about their influences, along with a great interview with noted ufologist Grant Cameron who has done a lot of research on the subject. In this interview, we also discuss Merrell’s album “Signals From Malibu,” touching upon strange radio signals and why some believe there’s an underwater UFO base off the California coast at Malubu.
