A Florida Patrolman’s 1992 Close Encounter

On March 19, 1992, at approximately 3:50 a.m., Luis Delgado, a 28-year-old patrolman with Florida’s Haines City police department was on patrol on a street alongside a citrus grove when he observed a rapidly descending green light in his rearview mirror. Soon the strange light seemed to keep pace with the patrolman’s cruiser. He slowed down and was startled when a dome-shaped craft silently flew overhead and filled his car with a brilliant green illumination. Pulling over to a complete stop, the patrolman then found that the electrical power in his cruiser had gone out. Over the next several minutes, patrolman Delgado stood outside his vehicle and watched in awe as the mysterious object, estimated to be some 15 feet in width, hovered in front of him. The object seemed suspended a mere ten feet above the ground. Around it the surrounding air seemed to become cooler, even forming a foggy mist.
Then, just as suddenly and mysteriously as the craft had appeared, it took off and was soon lost from sight. When Delgado got back to his cruiser, he discovered that the electrical system was now functioning properly once again.
UFO researcher Mark Rodeghier of the Center for UFO Studies noted that over the last half century more than 500 similar UFO cases of electrical power disruptions had been documented.
