You Are Here

by: Stan Prachniak, MBA

If you have ever visited a mall then you have probably seen a directory board that shows where all of the stores are. And if you wanted to visit a specific store at that mall, you might have even stopped to look at the directory. In order to find your way to the store you are looking for, you not only need to know where it is on the map, you must also know where you are. In that moment, you need a reference point that will tell you how to get to your desired location.

Life is kind of like this, but we don’t always have a clear direction or defined path to get where we want to be. Our directions can be clouded by any one of the many distractions we encounter each day. Think again about the mall example above. What if you knew what store you wanted to go to, but didn’t look at the directory to see where it was and how you could get there? Chances are you would just pick a direction and begin walking. You would pass numerous stores, some of which you might stop in and shop—distractions. And if you encounter too many distractions, you might not even fulfill the purpose of your trip—visiting that one specific store.

In life, it is a good idea to know where you are and where you want to go; or, to know who you are and who you want to become. You are here right now, in this moment in time, and you decide where you are going and who you will become.

Freedom To Change offers a way for you to discover your True Path in life by assessing situations and setting goals that will help eliminate distractions that hinder you from fulfilling your purpose. For more information on the Freedom To Change materials, visit www.freedom2change.org.
